Interview Kasumi Arimura Photo Exhibition "Sou." | "I imagine, at any time." A 30-year-old record of Kasumi Arimura
Kazumi Arimura's first photo exhibition, “Kasumi Arimura Photo Exhibition“ sou. ”” is being held at PARCO FACTORY on the 7th floor of the main building of Ikebukuro PARCO until March 25. Fukuoka PARCO and Shinsaibashi PARCO also make patrol decisions. The concept of the photo book and exhibition is "imagining" that Arimura values in his life. The photo exhibition, where the scenes, colors, and expressions felt from the word "sou." are scattered, the lingering sound of comfort echoes after seeing it. We asked Kazumi Arimura and photographer Jun Konjo about their thoughts in the photo book and exhibition.

"I imagine, at any time."
Kasumi Arimura's first photo book in his 30s
At the turning point of 30 years old, I would like to express my gratitude to the fans—the photo book "sou." began shooting on February 13, 2023, with Kazumi Arimura's 30-year-old birthday. What are the thoughts in the title of the photo book "sou."
"When I thought about what I value in my life now, I thought, 'I imagine.' Now, if you look into it, you will get a lot of answers. I think it's a very smart world that's very convenient and doesn't take much time to look into it. I wonder if I can conclude an answer that is more or less in myself?…Yeah. I thought it was going to go away from the "imagining" that I had cherished. For both people and things, after all, "Why is it?" I think it's important to look at it and imagine the back of it. I wanted to share my thoughts with the fans, so I named the word "imagining" as the title" (Hazumi Arimura).
The charm of Kasumi Arimura that has not changed since teens
Photographer Jun Konjo cut and shoot
Arimura asked for the photo by photographer Jun Konjo. "I've been working a lot since she was still a teenager. I was taking pictures quite often, so I gradually got to know each other. Neither I nor Gen Tsune-chan are talking so much, but without exchanging words, each other's tension is close and the wavelength matches. There is also a natural atmosphere created by the weight that has been photographed for many years, and it seems that there is Mr. Kazumi Arimura, who is close to the basics in this photo book. It's been a long time since I met each other, but I could get a glimpse of one side of Jun-chan, which I didn't know during this shoot. It was very expressive while leaving a little childish part that was the same as when I met. The charm of Sumi-chan is always the same. I've always been calm and quiet since I was a teenager. A person who can give comfort in that calmness. I'm not my first. When you look like it's fun, when you're enjoying yourself. It's attractive because it's a type of person who is happy to make the surroundings look fun. Even though I've been experiencing pressured scenes since I debuted, I always have a calm and gentle atmosphere every time I meet," says Jun Konjo.
Set in Kamakura, Thailand, Tokyo.
The life-size charm shown in each region
The filming was performed in Kamakura, Tokyo, Thailand. In this exhibition commemorating the photo book, in addition to recreating each world view that was the stage of photography, the words spun by himself are also displayed through various devices.
"I've been in the last five years.……I've changed the feeling of being in Tokyo to the feeling of being in Tokyo. "Oh, I'm in Tokyo right now." At the milestone of 30 years old, Tokyo is becoming an important place for me, so I chose it as one of the stages.
There is a nice female staff member, but when I was a little stuck, he took me to the sea. That was Kamakura. I remember that it was very refreshing, and I was able to take a very deep breath, and I felt like it was a place like my own power spot. It was also a place that gave me an important opportunity, so I chose Kamakura as another shooting location. Thailand says, "If an adult woman travels alone, what kind of country is there?" When I thought, Thailand came to my head right away. When I turned 30 and I was going to take a new step again, the place called Thailand was very nice. It was my first country to go, but I'm going to be a wonderful adult in my thirties.……I made it into Thailand with the meaning of "(Shazumi Arimura).
"I filmed where I was worried or liked, where I liked it, and where I felt such feelings and feelings. At Taninaka Shopping Street, I and Jun Kami alone walked around and photographed. I went to a shop for a while, or went to a general store or a cafe. Because it was a very rare situation, people around me were surprised (laughs). I started taking pictures from Jun Kake's 30th birthday and took about a year. While there are many photo books that take in about a month, slowly and slowly over a year. I was able to proceed with the situation where everyone's feelings were deep. "(Jun Konjo)
I dare to leave the lingering and margins.
A work that enjoys accident and challenges in nature
"In this filming, I don't care much about the camera, but I see it when I want to see it suddenly. Do you see it like talking to a photographer? "I don't think Imajo-san is a photographer" (laughs). When I have a camera, I feel like I can't get it naturally. It's important not to be aware of it. Ideally, the relationship between the subject and the photographer is ideal, and Imajo-san has experience so far, so I think that has been achieved. I didn't think I would be a strange adult, and I think the photos on display may be really close to my original self.
My favorite photo is one of the cats I took at a Thai stall. If a cat happened to be there and thought, "Cat, don't you come here?" Look at me (laughs). It was a moment that I met my eyes, but Imajo left that moment. I was very happy about that.
The photo displayed at the end of the venue was taken in Kamakura. When I was shooting, it suddenly began to rain. Because the costume got wet due to the rain, everyone was worried about what to do, but the weather would surely be on the side, so I decided to take pictures even in the rain. When I took the plunge, I was able to take this kind of cut. I remember everyone talking about it that I was glad I could take a strong picture." (Hazumi Arimura).
I want to thank the fans at the turning point of 30--a photo book "sou." created from Mr. Arimura's feelings, and the photo exhibition are packed with a careless natural smile and natural expression, and the words spun by Mr. Arimura.
"I really like artworks with margins. This time, the concept of this photo book and exhibition that we want to deliver to fans is "margins". I want to share my favorites with fans (laughs). I would be most happy if you could think "something comfortable" without feeling strange fatigue after watching. I thought it would be nice to be able to make that kind of thing."
"The more you have age and experience, the more you are.
I want to become more and more mellow.
Arimura has been running as a representative of Japan since the NHK serial TV novel "Amachan" that appeared at the age of 20. What is the ideal human image that she is now 31 years old?
"I was in my twenties. Of course, it's time to get lost.……There were many hesitations and worries about what kind of self I could keep my motivation and physical strength properly, and I could face my work. I think you've lived for a year or a year to resist something. I think it's always being used around, and I don't think it's the only one. I don't think I'm living alone, and that feeling hasn't changed yet. From now on, I think that some parts that I can't break myself will come out in the process of growth. But I think it's important to see how much you can become mellow as you age and experience. Of course, there may be times when you have to fight with a core, but I hope that you can become more and more mellow while feeling that your values are not all."
